International
Standards

Lydra has invested in certifications that guarantee the highest international standards, anticipating regulations that are not yet compulsory in Italy.

Thanks to this policy, Lydra obtains a twofold result: on the one hand, protection of the environment and of people, and on the other, the offer to its customers of services and products with high quality standards.

After obtaining the environmental certification in accordance with UNI EN ISO 14001 in October 2011, in January 2013, Lydra implemented its own management system and integrated it into the field of safety in accordance with BS OHSAS 18001. In 2018, ISO 45001, the new standard that sets an international standard on safety and provides for increasing staff involvement, was published: In 2020, Lydra successfully carried out the verification audit for the transition to this standard.

To date, Lydra maintains active and dynamic management system certification thanks to the great commitment of all its staff, who are involved in a policy that is particularly respectful of the environment and safety.

The interventions were carried out using the funding made available to "promote energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in businesses", with the specific objective of "reducing energy consumption and emissions in businesses and integrating renewable sources". This funding is part of the POR-FESR 2014-2020 AXIS 4 - ACTION 4.2.1 programme, "incentives aimed at reducing energy consumption and climate-changing gas emissions of companies and production areas, including the installation of renewable energy production plants for self-consumption, giving priority to high efficiency technologies".

OF
THE PRODUCTION PROCESS

The project and the interventions carried out by Lydra have led to an optimisation of the production process with simultaneous energy efficiency.

A total of five macro-interventions were carried out:

  • revamping of the entire production department by installing light fixtures with LED technology;
  • installation of a new high-efficiency steam boiler to support the production process;
  • production of cold process water by installing a new chiller;
  • integration of the compressed air plant with line extension and new inverter machine;
  • optimised management of heat exchanges occurring during the production process with heat recovery and preheating of the incoming water.

The implementation of these interventions will result in an estimated energy saving of 14%.

CERTIFICATIONS

CERTIFICATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS ISO 14001

Environmental Certification is an international standard applicable to any type of public or private organisation. Implementing ISO 14001 in the company is a guarantee of the implementation of an appropriate management system to keep the environmental impacts of its activities and the systematic search for continuous improvement under control.

It is not compulsory to be certified according to ISO 14001, but comes following the company’s own choice whereby it has decided to establish, implement, maintain active and continuously improve its environmental management system.

SAFETY CERTIFICATION ISO 45001

The 45001 certification defines the requirements of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System and provides for staff to be highly involved, responding to the current regulations regarding hazards and risks potentially present in the workplace. Lydra's decision to obtain this certification is aimed at protecting and improving the health and safety of all those involved in company life.
